My writing began at age thirteen and I have been continuing to do so ever since. It began with a very basic outline of what would eventually become The Taigian Wars. I wrote three separate drafts, all of which entirely different and exponentially better quality than the original idea. Even so, I did not consider the end product of that draft worth much more than a personal collection of ideas for a story. I needed practice.
I then became interested in fan fiction for my favourite video game, Homeworld. As a space RTS, the content created for it was mostly original, and some of it publishable quality. The more I read, the more I felt like this was something I wanted to do. My own work had been on hold for half a year and I had no intentions of going back to it for the time being, so I decided to start my own fan creation. This became the Exile's Return trilogy. The first drafts were completed over the course of my high school career and by the time the final book was finished, I could say my writing quality was acceptable now, and took up an interest in my old ideas that had been collecting dust in a box for years. I wrote several other drafts until I was satisfied with the eighth which is currently ongoing. The series will consist of five or six books from what my brainstorms seem to tell me. I hope to finish this version by summer and will be creating the ninth and final copy before submitting to an editor for review. I am making a reboot of my fan fiction trilogy at the same time as this, and so far both are going steady. If you have criticisms about it, feel free to share so I know what works and doesn't work. Have a good read! -KLM |
